Rita was born in the middle of a roundabout in the spring of 2021, there, in the middle of dirt and cars, her mom had 5 puppies hidden among the plants. Rain, humidity, cold fell on them... When we rescued them, their brother Mango couldn't stand it and a few days later he died.
His mommy was sterilized, dewormed and returned to the colony, free.

Rita was the smallest of all and came full of parasites and with a terrible cold that also made us think of the worst, but she showed how much of a fighter she was and could handle everything
In the month of August, when we went to vaccinate, they saw that he had a slight low-grade fever that, despite giving treatment, did not go away, they changed his medication and it went away. They also tested him for AIDS and leukemia (negative) and a complete analysis that came out right. But she was very small, she did not weigh a kilo and her brothers weighed more than three kg. Everything seemed to be going well, Rita did not eat much and was always in a position of pain.

Then we realized that one of his eyes was cloudy and inflamed and the other one a few days later. We went to the vet again, they sent medication and referred us to the ophthalmologist, at that time I was already planning the PIF word about Rita. When we arrived at the ophthalmologist's office, Rita had a fever. They drew blood for a FIP serology and looked at the eyes... at which point they told us that they were definitely FIP eyes and that little could be done. They also did a complete biochemistry to rule out other diseases, but everything was fine, the terrible disease was confirmed.
We have never cried so much coming back from the vet, since Rita barely ate and moved. He stared at the food, but he couldn't and as he did so his teeth gnashed.

Those were very sad days, we couldn't believe it, we couldn't think that everything was over, that the only thing left was to say goodbye to Rita. We could not give up and we began to investigate and learn about a treatment that we had read about. Luckily we found an exceptional group that informed us about this treatment and that it was giving very good results, but, there is always a loss, the treatment is very long, very hard and very expensive, since it is not marketed here in Spain and there are to bring it from outside, but it is the only hope there is, a straw that we grasp to snatch Rita from the clutches of death.
This is a long-distance race, there are a minimum of 84 days of treatment, 84 punctures a day, always at the same time, that will give Rita a chance to live.
