Rita

Rita was born in the middle of a roundabout in the spring of 2021. Her mother, seeking shelter among the plants, gave birth to five kittens who bravely endured the cold and rain until we managed to rescue them. Sadly, one of her brothers, Mango, did not survive. After her mother was spayed and returned to her colony, Rita, the youngest, arrived weak, suffering from parasites and a severe cold that nearly claimed her, though her fighting spirit pulled her through.

Despite her initial recovery, we soon noticed troubling symptoms. First came a persistent fever, then her eyes became cloudy and inflamed. After several tests and a difficult visit to the ophthalmologist, we received the diagnosis we’d feared: FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Rita was barely eating, and the pain kept her from moving. It was heartbreaking to witness her fragility, but we refused to give up.

We found an experimental treatment that, while costly and lengthy, could save her: 84 days of daily injections, imported from outside Spain. We’re holding onto this last hope, ready to do whatever it takes to give Rita a chance at life.
